The skills addressed correlate very closely to the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), the foundation of the national School to Work movement. Purposed by the Bush administration and enacted by the Clinton administration, specific skills were designated as being necessary for success on any job. They form the foundation for contextual learning in the classroom or on the job. Staff work hard to cover these critical, transferable skills during the workday. Skills assessed are:
Responsibility, Teamwork, Persistence, Sense of Quality, Lifelong Learning, Adapting to Change, Problem Solving, Systems Thinking, Information Processing
In addition to the following criteria all youth have consistent goals set that are aimed to increase a variety of skills which include: career preparation, personal growth, academic achievement, or positive community-based or school involvement.
